DIY Gentle (but Tough) Oven Cleaner

If you need to spot clean your oven, you can always use a straight essential oil of cinnamon, orange and lemon on super tough, baked-on grime. Add enough oil to cover the grime spot for 15-20 minutes. Left on long enough, the oils will eat through grime, grease and oil. Wash off with soapy water and TADA! Not only does your kitchen smell awesome, but the tough scrubbing job has been done for you, by natural oils.

For those larger jobs when you need to clean the whole darn thing, here is a basic oven cleaner, using the same oils mentioned above.

Gentle (but Tough) Oven Cleaner

Ingredients
2 Ounces of White Vinegar (60 mL)
1/2 Teaspoon of Essential Oil (Cinnamon, Orange or Lemon) (2.5 mL)
1/4 Cup of Baking Soda (56 g)

Directions:
Mix ingredients in a paste and use a scrub pad to clean the oven. This requires more muscle then the aforementioned spot-removal method, but it does leave you with a sparkly oven. Rinse with soapy water.

This recipe will foam, so be sure to mix it in a large enough container to allow for foam expansion and always use gloves folks! Unfortunate, this recipe doesn’t store very well, so remember to write this gem down or bookmark my page.

Don’t forget to join us again tomorrow when we do yet another DIY, this time for easy to make drain cleaner.

Until next time,
