DIY Ultimate Countertop Cleaner
This is one of those recipes you will always need to keep on hand. Countertops are cleaned more often than any other surface in your kitchen, therefore this will be one for the memory books, after you’ve made it a few times. We keep a spray bottle of these essential oils (minus the Borax) under the sink and use it to liven up the house with citrus, to clean the air and help remove unwanted odors like pets or smoke.
For this recipe, they call for the use of liquid Castile soap. Feel free to use your own liquid Castile soap, if you happen to make your own soap. If you’re not adventurous, or simply don’t have the time, I highly recommend purchasing Dr. Bronner’s Castile Liquid Soap (unscented) to use.
Ingredients
3 Tablespoons of Liquid Castile Soap (45 mL)
1/2 Teaspoon of Borax (3 g)
1 Teaspoon of Baking Soda (5 g)
1 1/2 Cups of Water (360 ml)
4 Ounces of Witch Hazel (120 mL)
5 Drops of Tea Tree Extract or Oil
5 Drops of Orange Oil or Lemon Oil
Directions:
Dissolve the tea tree and citrus oils into the witch Hazel. Blend in all the remaining ingredients.
Note: If you need a stronger recipe, add three tablespoons (45 mL) of Isopropyl Alcohol to the mixture.
Store in a spray bottle with the name and date.
Shelf life: 3-6 months
Join us tomorrow for a DIY project for toilet bowl cleansing, and it doubles as a mold treatment for tiles! Wowza – a double-action superhero!
Until next time,
